Help please!  I've gained 30 pounds since July.  I can't stop binge eating.  I don't know why I keep doing it.  I keep telling myself I will stop tomorrow and I don't.

Have you gone to counseling? It helps me a lot to find out why sometimes i sabotage myself.

Do you crave all foods or only some foods (i.e. craving carbohydrates - sugars may indicate systematic candida - google that).
I know that every time I crave more carbs and sugars - my candida is stronger that my desire to be thin.  So I take medication to reduce - eliminate the yeast infection.  It usually help me to get my eating under control (controls my cravings).  once I no longer feel like I have to have my carbs - I can get my proteins, veggies, and it is difficult to binge eat chicken with broccoli.

It may be that - or stress or depression, or some other mental issues you have not dealt with.

I binge on junk like ice cream, cake, cookies and candy. All the things I'm not suppose to be eating.  After binging I crash out. I fall asleep for about an hour or two then I do it again.  I've did better yesterday.  I binged only 2 times.  Today I binged 1 time. I also went to the gym yesterday and today.  Thank You so much for your advice.  I will look up systematic candida and possible set up an appt. with a therapist.

Melba, I hope today you are doing better.  Part of your gain is likely fluid, but you need to get a grip and don't ruin all the wonderful progress you've made.  Do this for you and your health! De-carb and start planning your daily meals and snacks so that you don't get overly hungry.  If you are going to binge, go for protein first.  You can do this! You've done it before and you can do it again.

Thank you for the words of encouragment. I'm trying not to binge.  I started going to the gym again.  It has helped somewhat.  I know I'm capable I just need to stop binging.

I'm doing a little better.  I'm down to only 1 binge today.  I really want to stop.

You may want to consider Overeaters Anonymous http://www.oa.org/

It's free and they have a great program to help deal with compulsive overeating. It might be a good starting point in your journey to get back on track.

Best of luck,
Stephanie

Today is November 1st...Monday...new week and new month and a new day!  Are you BOT?  I am just like you, basically.  I have 40 plus pounds to go and a BMI around 32.  I am 56 years old so I have the slow metabolism to boot!  I am the queen of binge eating!  I upped my calories to stop the hunger and blood sugar drop that starts binge eating for me.  My house is empty of junk.  I am BOT for 1 week and have lost 3 lbs.  not 5 or 6.  I know most is water but I am hoping 1 little pound is weight.  How is it going now for you?  Are you BOT?  Please join me planning and logging your food.  I am only one week out so my motivation is high.  I know next week I will hit a plateau and could use some encouragement on this site.  Sounds like you are ready.  take care, Linda
